    Hello,

I recently purchased a 2016 F-150 with the 6.5′ box, I was wondering if anyone else on here has that set up and if they can fit an otter lodger in the back. I am assuming that it will fit, but am curious if it would fit with the piviot hitch attached to the sled. Just wondering if anyone on here has a similar set up and can comment.

    Thanks

I had the 2010 ford f150 with the 6.5′ box and my otter lodge fit in the box, but it was right up against the tailgate. Don’t think it will fit with the pivot hitch attached.

I have an 06 F150 with 6.5 ft box. My otter lodge fits better without pivot hitch on. You can get tailgate shut with it on but really have push to shut it.

I have a 15 f150 with a 6.5 box and an otter lodge. It fits perfect under an Access cover.

I do not have the pivot hitch though. It would be tight but I think it would fit.

Not trying to be rude but your title states long box and in your post you said 6.5′. Is 6.5′ really a long box on new half ton trucks these days? If that’s the case I guess I won’t be buying one. I have an 8′ bed and even that isn’t big enough at times when taking friends and gear on trips.

6.5′ box is considered a long box these days. You can’t even get an 8′ in a Lariat or Platinum. It’s Ben that way for at least 10 years.

Ford has a 5′ box, a 6.5′ box and a 8′ box. I don’t think you can get the 1/2 ton crew cab with an 8′ box, but maybe I am wrong.

Well looks like im driving my Chevy into the ground then. Don’t think I’ll fork out the money for a new 3/4 ton these days. So I’ll stick to what’s been working new boats and old trucks haha….Priorities…..

You are correct, I tried to get that combo when purchasing my new truck and the dealer laughed at me…settled on a Crew 6.5’…and even that’s long for a 1/2 ton.

My 2015 F150 super crew with a 6.5′ box will fit an otter lodge with the tailgate up. If you have a low profile tonneau cover, it’s pretty tight. Unfortunately there’s no way for it to fit with the swing over tow bar.

Just curious. Does it fit with the swing bar and without the cover?

It won’t fit with the swing over horseshoe tow adapter and the tailgate up. At least I don’t believe it would even without a cover on the bed. The tonneau cover has a front mount area behind the cab that’s probably a few inches or so into the bed but even if you didn’t have that the swing over tow setup probably wouldn’t fit.
