What kind of reel do you use on them and how is the overall durability of the rod?
I have one, and rarely use it. Too paranoid about breaking the tip, and have other rods that do the job better
I have 2 Tickle Sticks and 2 Widow Makers, the Tickle’s are awesome for crappies and bluegills. Both of mine are 27″ Ultra Light. I have never had an issue with the tip, it is built with one solid blank, so the tip is not a separate piece. Ive rigged into some walleyes and northerns with the ultra light and have never had an issue. My only recommendation is that you use a hard case with the Tickle rods, not the pvc/canvas bag; they slide around to much and could damage the tip. I use the 13 Fishing Teardrop and BlackBetty 6061 on both and absolutely love them. I have everything 13 Fishing, but you can never go wrong with the classic Shimano Reels. The Tickle Stick is the most sensitive and fun rod I’ve fished with.

The new tickle sticks that came out this year have much larger eyes, 13 must have revised them from years past with complaints from the small eyes. I broke down and bought the 38 inch light model, and so far I love it. I fish mostly panfish and it has performed well thus far, granted it is a small sampling size. Got the 42 inch light widowmaker for an x-mas gift, used it on Saturday and really liked that as well. For my sake they have both performed well to this point, I’m intrigued with the shaved and tapered flat tip on these rods, they sure are sensitive, I assume and hope they will hold up. Both have great quick-tips and a quick transition to a strong backbone for battling bass, pike and even walleye if you ask me. I have paired both with inline reels, the BB 6061 and the Frabill 251.
I went to Cabela’s after work today and wouldn’t you know it they were sold out of Tickle sticks. They only had a few Widow Markers left.
My buddy just bought a 28″ Light. They seem tail heavy even with a Sienna 500 reel on them probably due to the reel seats, his has a short cork handle possibly to help with the tail heaviness. The tip of the rod seems awesome, without actually fishing the rod I compare the tip to a TUCR precision I own, but the TUCR precision backbone is so prevalent I can’t compare any rod to it until I see a fish on the other end! Either way I am considering one as a true deadstick rod in the future due to the fast tip with neon into what appears to be a decent backbone. Anyone that has actually fished the rod will know more. My thoughts on 13 fishing hardware are only getting better.
I think I would go with a TUCR Precision Noodle or the Per Sweetheart from TB. I have the Precision Noodle and it’s by far my favorite rod. I have heard of too many breaking their tips with the Tickle Sticks. That being said, if you do get one, make sure it’s the newer model. I have heard they fixed the problem.

Last year I tried a tickle stick when they came out around us, I loved it but as soon as I tried hole hopping with it the eyelets froze and I let 13 know about the problem that others might experience as well. This year all the problems are fixed that I had with it!
I just used My new 27in light tickle stick to reel up this 39inch 13.5pound northern this weekend, I was a little worried about it snapping but after the 30 minute fight I knew this was a excellent built ice rod.

OLD THREAD BUMP
Are you still liking the 38″ Light? Looking at this rod for hole hopping with small spoons.
Anyone else been using the 38″ Light Ticklestick? What do you think of it for the above application. 1/8 oz spoons being the max lure weight. I feel like this could be a good multi-species rod (panfish, perch, eyes). Will this rod handle walleye and the occasional pike?
