Is anyone running any 13 fishing rods or reels? I’m liking them, they seem pretty solid for the money. The DEFY seems like a great rod for the money. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I have 6 omens, a few envy, and bought my son 2 of the defy. They are good for the price I’ve beat mine up and down. Broke 2 omens both in 0 to 10 degree temp. But warranty was awesome and easy to deal with

I run the Omen Black in 7′ 3″ Medium Fast. I really like the rod, it’s on the stiffer side of medium and almost fishes like a medium/heavy. I like it for trolling spring/early summer pike and for pulling bass out of cover. Great rod, I have no complaints with it. I also have their Widow Maker 32″ Medium/Light for ice fishing, that I paired with the ghost free fall. The Widow Maker is top notch, nice fast tip and super sensitive. The only drawback for the ghost free fall is the same draw back many in line reels have where once it gets below 20 degrees it starts having freeze up issues but perfect for shelter use. Also have to mention their plastics, they’re my go to for pan fishing.

I got an Omen musky rod and the A3 concept reel at a sig discount–50% off the rod at Fleet and a buddy has some membership that gets him 60% off reels–so far Ive been very satisfied.

Starting last year I’ve added several 13 rods to the boat. A few Fate Chromes, 2 Fate Black 2’s, a few Omens and one Defy. Mostly Casting, but 3 Spinning ones that haven’t seen as much use yet. For the money I really like the Fate Chromes and have used them most with no issues. The only one I had issues with was the Defy. It was a spinning rod and broke at about the 2nd or 3rd eye down. I was just reaching down(not boat flipping) for a bass with rod in the other hand and it snapped. Maybe caught 20 or so Bass on it prior. Runnings did replace it, but I haven’t used that one much since.

If you can, I guess I would start with the Fates and up, rather than the Defy. Usually there are some sales going on. A buddy does have a casting Defy and hasn’t had any issues with that one, so maybe the casting ones are better. The Omen 2’s have been on sale lately also, Looking at T.W., it looks like they are coming out with an Omen 3.

    Good luck.

I picked up the omen for $49.00 earlier this year at Fleet Farm in Brainerd. My daughter thinks this is a more sensitive rod than my Avid-X

Omens are awesome verticle jigging rods when your using heavy jigs on the river. And do great pulling 3 ways. If you can get them for 49 bucks that’s a great price
