Got to spend the night on Leech last Thursday. After days of nice, steady weather a cold front rolled into Walker about the same time I did and it got down to -1.
We rented a house from Yodie, A member here and guide on Leech. He has a fleet of nice, clean wheelhouses for rent. He’s a great guy and keeps the houses on fish. Once the Walleye season comes to an end he will have the houses on top of the jumbo Perch.
Ed and I met yodie and got to the house about three o’clock. We were in 30 fow and our fish were caught during the “prime” times with everything being caught during fairly small windows. The evening bite was between 4:30 and 6:30 and 8:00-10:00 the next morning. All our fish were caught on rattle jigs and heads with grn/orange being the best colors. Deadsticks didn’t produce any bites and I missed what felt to be a pretty nice fish on a very large shiner on a rattle wheel.
When it was all done I caught ten eyes to my brother in laws one (he was kinda in party mode)
The fish ran small with the largest being 16″
Had a great time and I would highly recomend contacting Yodie (Tom Wilson) if you’re looking to spend a night or two on the ice.
