I am looking at purchasing an 11lb propane tank that is the “pancake” style. Question is will this style fit in a standard size plastic milk crate? Also if anyone has one for sale PM me. Thanks in advance for anyone that can answer this.

Hmmm…I should try to put mine into a milk crate huh. I let you know sometimes tomorrow, how it goes.

I have used the 11 lb in a milk crate for years fits tight but no worry about it falling out . Also saves the sled from the tank rolling around and smashing everything inside.

Just to piggy back off this (hope the author doesn’t mind) but anyone know where to find decent deals on these and/or 5Lbs tanks? All I can find anywhere is $50-60.

Strange how these are priced, but I guess they are probably less common than the 20 lbs tanks….hence the price.

    Have a Camping World nearby?

FWIW, be sure to check the date on the tank before you buy it. I’ve seen these at Farm & Fleet that are 3-4 years old.

Thanks HRG. Unfortunately I’d have to buy a $25 membership to get that price. Probably just have to pay the price to go lite weight, but in the end it’s probably worth it.

Menard is like $49. Never saw it cheaper. Getting one too as the 20# is getting to my back. I normally fill mine at uhaul, $15 for empty 20# . I assume it will be less for a 11#er

I picked my 5 lb tank from Cabelas bargain cave a few years back. Keep checking it was this time of year I picked it up for $35 or $40.
