11/25 report

    went out of everts at around 745. Fished the wing dams and the lock side. 1 bite otherwise nothing. Did blades, jig/minnow(got bit off) and jigs and plastic. I pitched, I drifted, I vertical jiged, I dragged, and nothing but 1 bite. Fished 8-16 ft of water.

    Get back to everts and spoke to someone who said he caught around 20 fish. Said the bite was very lite and everything was on jig/minnow or blades. Apparently he found all the fish around 19′. Guess I did not go deep enough.

    Current was tough, water is still about 2 feet high and the rollers were completely up on the dam.

    Bite was good 20 plus eyes couple saugers sheepshead crappies small mouth had close to 50 fish caught for 3 people. Slow was the key, plastics and jig/minnow was best, bright colors far out produced natural hands down

    4lb smallie and an eye little over 3lb were biggest today

    Don’t feel bad TransAm. Same things seems to happen to me all the time.

    Wednesday (the 25th) was my last outing. Sadly had to put the boat away shortly afterward (moment of silence. Sigh.)

    Anyway….launched out of Bay Point. Which was pretty interesting considering the docks were pulled out. Didn’t even try by dam but more so on MN side along rocks before the Y. 8 to 12 feet; 5 keeper walleye. Biggest as 20″.

    All came on a jig and minnow (tried plastics with no luck). And all came on dark colors (green, black, and/or purple). And very slow presentation.

    Good luck. I will try not to look at future open water reports for awhile cuz it will just make me sad. I love ice fishing, but….sigh. Nothing like fall open water on the river.

    I will probably be making a few more trips down there this year and I can almost never find someone to go with me. Keep your eye on the trip swap fourm.

    Trans AM. We were on the river same day. Fishing was about the same. I did however find a nice pair of Harley rain pants that match the coat you are wearing in your profile picture.. Would gladly get them back to you if they are yours.. Maybe trade for some good fishing intel!!! Let me know..

    Anybody know who slim severson is? He hasn’t logged on since posting that he has my rain pants and id love to get them back.
