That’s wicked. I grew up fishing that lake with my Grandpa back in the day. It gets pressured quite a bit and I think that sometimes that leads to a false sense of security when there’s lots of people on the ice.
I was fishing a small lake here in central WI, 2″ at a creek mouth where just last weekend there was 9″…but there were lots of atv’s out on the rest of the lake (away from the moving water)
Just goes to show it’s not always safe to assume ice conditions, especially with this strange weather we’ve been having so far this winter. Sure it’s a pain to drag out the spud and rope with all the rest of the gear, but it always pays to be cautious.
Well guys, just be safe. Think of your families and friends before you make any sketchy decisions. Spud, rope w/ bowline, hand spikes, and most importantly…a buddy.
Thoughts and prayers out to the family. Take care all.
