1 day to fish near Alexandria

    I’ll be in Alexandria in a few weeks for graduation and will have a day to do some fishing. I’m hoping to catch some bluegills and crappies. I’m from Devils Lake, so I have no idea which one of the many lakes in the area to fish. Any suggestions would be great!

    Do you have a boat or are you planning to fish from shore?

    From what I have noticed most of the big panfish have moved out of the shallows so fishing from shore will be more difficult. You’d have a better chance at a trophy walleye from shore after dark than a limit of big crappie or gills during the day.

    I’d say the key would be to fish the evening when the big crappie come into shallower water. Osakis, Reno and Minnewaska have good shore fishing opportunities. Good Luck!
