Whats the number 1 accessory you have added to your boat? Was the intent to make your boat more comfortable or to make you a better fisherman? Photo’s welcome. grin

Without a doubt for me it was the kicker motor. Not only for trolling but it got me home 3 times when the main failed.

Trolling motor. If you’ve ever positioned a boat using oars you know what I mean.

And a depth finder, it’s hard to imagine ever fishing with out one.

Depth finder/GPS combo. Anymore seems like fishing blindfolded without it.

Back in the day, it was finally getting an outboard with power tilt/trim, so I could reduce the number of props I was tearing-up.

    More recently, having a fishfinder/GPS.

Trolling motor is first on the list for me on the river. I spent a few years without a depthfinder in my first boat.

well,at first my number one accessory was the outboard motor, but I remarried for the second time thirteen years ago and ended up with a ready made family.

so now my number one accessory if available would be one of each of the following:
a little jail for my two year old grandson so he doesnt throw my kill lanyard overboard again when I am not looking.

a leech installer for my wifes hook when she is at the front of the boat and I am in the back,( seventeen feet is a long ways )

an auto docking feature when it is blowing above thirty miles per and your boat is of considerably less value than the ranger and six lunds already there.

I would say a kicker motor. I say that because a gps locator and a trolling motor are pretty much standard items on boats now.

Isn’t really an accessory but it was the biggest reason i replaced my previous boat with the boat i have now- a full windshield. No more guilty feeling when my wife is in the passenger seat curling up in a ball to get away from the wind/rain/waves.
Otherwise I’d go with gps/sonar combo and lake mapping chips.

    Motorguide Xi5.

Next will be a compact high-powered spotlight, because so many do not believe in navigation lights on the river.

Lil tackle trays in front and back with pliers in each. Hate digging for the one in the boat.

I have to go with rod holders on a traxtech track system. Pulling leadcore all day and holding on to that rod can vet very tiring.

This really urine me off with people who don’t use or have broken running light after dark. Going out at night check the lights before you leave the landing. rant done.

Outside of those listed, the troll master throttle control is my best accessory. I’d buy one again in a heartbeat.

Trollmaster throttle control is right up there on the list.

Also – a simple drain plug to block off one of the big rear livewells in my tyee. It became a big drystorage area that holds a couple 4gallon square pails, fillet board, pee jug, etc…. Getting all that stuff into a dedicated storage keeps the fishing area neat, clean, and uncluttered. That fix is is a game changer as far as making the boat pleasantly usable…..

It is a nice add for fine speed control. Easy to install yourself.

I’ll list a couple boat projects that I really liked, not necessarily #1 but some might like them and want to try.

First one is my glow box for charging my glow baits. Bought an $8 tool box at harbor freight and some UV LED’s off of ebay.

Tied into my live well pump with a tee and a valve to have an optional deck washdown sprayer. Great for cleaning blood off the deck and cleaning fish.

plain old fish-finder. Know my waters well enough don’t need GPS.

Don’t think I’d like the stereo in the boat. My favorite sound is the breeze and the waves gentle hitting the side of the boat, nature.

And THAT’s the very reason I DON’T have a full windshield. toast

I know I’m a little different Dutch, but since I boat most always in the dark I added the Lowrance G3 Radar.

It’s the best accessory I’ve added since the GPS/Sonar.

It’s something that certainly isn’t needed on the small lakes and rivers around here during daylight, but it sure is nice to see that boat that forgot to put it’s lights on a quarter mile ahead of me!

Yeah, my boat sticks out like a can of Spam at a wine tasting party but I’ll LIVE with that. )

Here’s an inexpensive little device that I use a lot for pliers, bent hooks and such. In fact, I use it so much I forget about it.

I have spare bulbs for both lights,3 for each.Plus a special white light that I plug into the bow socket for night fishing.

The landing at Trempealeau is really bad in this respect. The DNR could write MANY tickets most evenings.Plus for those that park in the center LOADING zone.It sucks when you can barely back out of the proper parking stall, because someone almost has you boxed-in.RANT over.

Thanks Brian, I bought a couple of those grabbers at a show a few years ago. Still haven’t used them. doah they will get installed this spring. One of those ideas where a guy says “why didn’t i think of that.”
