Hard to believe but its that price here in Cedar Rapids. This morning it was at $2.07 and three hours later it was $1.97, got a half tank in the boys car for $10 bucks. I thought Id never see under $3.00 bucks again, good too see this price for a change.

Wow that’s great. It can come down another $1.00 I wouldn’t mind.

Art, its almost there. Well drilling at a stand-still,nearly no one is trucking sand, thousands of contractors/vendors not working….good for us locally with less expensive gas, but harsh on the over-all economy.
December 25, 2014 at 11:49 am #1488168I dread the result on the economy when the prices bottom out and head back in the other direction. Remember how slow it has been to come down? I bet it rockets back up over $4 over night!
December 25, 2014 at 12:09 pm #1488175I sure don’t miss these days when I had to fill the work van.

That actually makes financial sense for once. I get about 40% less mileage with that in my truck.
John SchultzInactivePortage, WIPosts: 3309December 29, 2014 at 3:54 pm #1489484When I still had my previous truck that would take E-85, I got 25% less. Right now, at the station by my house, regular E-10 and E-85 are the same price. Not sure why anyone would use E-85 if the price wasn’t at least 25% less.

I’m not a economics major but isn’t the money being saved on gas going somewhere else? If folks are saving $22.50 on 15 gallons…I heard a penny decline in gas prices nationwide equals one billion dollars.

December 29, 2014 at 5:08 pm #1489522We’re closed…
I meant golf/Redfish trip….Under $200 round trip non stop to Ft Meyers
deertrackerPosts: 9237December 29, 2014 at 5:36 pm #1489535Golf/redfish and gator spotting. I saw there were some courses open over Christmas in the cities. You get out? With cheap gas I should have driven down.
DTDecember 29, 2014 at 6:33 pm #1489566I wish I would see more gators down here.
The only gators up here are around peoples necks.
DT, nope, didn’t get out. Played some great touch football though…seriously, it was a riot!

I dont think so, a federal program is subsidizing the low cost of ethenal blends so we are paying ALL paying the cost on an iferior product being shoved down our throats. While driving up cost in other markets.
December 29, 2014 at 6:51 pm #1489581In the Kalamazoo Mi area it has been $ 1.84 for 2 weeks. I saw $ 1.79 over by Bay City today. I hope it stays down until my spring trip to Manitoba !

Did some checking…a one cent reduction in price equals 1.4 billion dollars, therefore a $1.00 per gallon drop would mean 140 billion in money freed up. I suppose some folks that drive less due to high prices will do more traveling but I don’t see how this can be bad for the economy.
I don’t think people believe that this is permanent but it’s certainly being enjoyed by many people right now, as it should be. I’m not going to worry about what could be. Time will tell but I’m not sure it will climb to $4.00 overnight.
For now, fill er up and go somewhere you’ve been putting off and spend the savings at the great Ma & Pa shops along the way.
castle-rock-clownPosts: 2596December 29, 2014 at 8:04 pm #1489616there is a reason why money is called currency, no matter where it’s going as long as its moving its doing something good, when it stops that is when there is hell to pay. look at what happened when credit locked up the last time. nobody will ever agree with another person on how money is being spent or who is making it but, with trillions and trillions of dollars out there, almost as numerous as grains of sand on the beach, it will never be a matter of running out of it it’ll be a matter of keeping it moving.

Give us working class a light at the end of the tunnel we do wonders for the economy.
