Just a quick little report. The Walleye and Sauger bite has been very strong for about the last 7 days. During the day the fish seem to be in 23′ to 28′ of water and the catch is primarily Sauger with a lot of 14-17″ fish. Early morning and again late in the day the bite moves a little shallower and Walleyes start to out number the Sauger. Several 23 – 28″ fish have been caught this week as well as one over 30″ that we know off.

Most Sauger are being caught on a Jig and Minnow with the Walleyes coming primarily on plastics.

Please consider releasing all larger fish and obvious females so we can help sustain this amazing fishery for years to come.

Everts Resort has their ramps open and is fully stocked with everything you will need. Thank You, Chris

Mainly perch for me yesterday but I only fished mid day. Few pike mixed in, too. Surprised not more people were out.

Funny, when they don’t post reports people get mad. When they do, people get mad.

There were a half dozen boats down there yesterday and with the forecast I think the fishery will be ok.

RR you’ve been around here a long time. Seems like the fishery would be dead with all the “advertising” by now.

Ido and many other fishing sites have been built around helping others catch fish. It appears that you would rather keep them all to yourself?

coffee yep. It’s dead. Complain away.

If we are worried about the fishery they need to outlaw guys fishing the scour holes. I watched 2 boats parked in 50′ of water pull perch after perch up and pitch them back. No chance a single one of them survived. I pulled a couple out of about 30′ and they were goners. Ironic thing is the perch were all over certain areas from 10-25′ feet. They were all over my graph in a handful of spots. You didn’t need to fish that hole to catch perch.

I actually watched one guy drag baits right up a seam that’s about 50′ deep. I asked him what he was doing but he obviously didn’t want to chat.

I guarantee more than half the boats that fish this scour hole have no idea they are even in it. I fished the river 20 plus and I have no idea where it is but I also know what happens as a result of fishing these holes. Put some markers around it and stay away. The DNR must not be too concerned or it would be done….maybe?

All these guys have graphs so they know the depth they are fishing in. Maybe they don’t realize it’s the ‘scour hole’ but they know the depth. I would argue half don’t know what happens when you pitch a perch back that you just ripped out of 50′ of water.

I do agree – they could probably mark these areas. Might be a little tough to enforce. I also think they could post signs at the launches. I have to believe the crew at Everts would be willing to help with an awareness campaign or post some signs by their launch. Doesn’t solve the entire problem but it’s a start.
