For the guys that bought the amped 24v have u had any trouble connecting it to the app? I can’t get mine to even show up on Bluetooth. Amped is willing to ship me a new one but want to make sure I’m not missing something first.

    Thanks

What kind of phone? Android or Apple? I know some have had Bluetooth connection issues with Androids. You need to turn your location setting on for some reason.

Are you using the correct App? There are two versions, one for the battery monitor that Amped sells loose, and one foe the batteries that have bluetooth within the BMS.

I just scanned the QR code from the instructions that came in the box and didn’t have any issue. My battery is at 50% but I haven’t hooked the charger up yet to see how that shows in the app. Good to hear amped is willing to make things right instead of giving you the run around.

Android phone, correct app, Location & Bluetooth on. It should be simple but somethings not right. I’ve even tried a diff Android phone. Great customer service from amped. Just contacted them yesterday and already willing to ship out a new battery today

The app should pickup any Bluetooth device in the area. are you seeing any bluetooth devices showing up on the screen? If not it may be the app, or you have a pre Bluetooth battery. It should show Bluetooth on the side of the battery.

Yep app picks up every other Bluetooth device in the house including a different brand lithium starting battery. A new one is being delivered tomorrow from amped. Will report back

I just purchased two Dr Prepare 100AH lifePO4 batteries for $209 each delivered, since my LA`s were on their way out nothing to lose if they last six years I am good with that for the price, if they go longer money in my pocket.

Prices like this will make deep cycle flooded and agm batteries go bye bye very soon

Paid 139.99 for a Duracell 31 series AGM back in 2018,that battery now goes for 214.00 or so.Don see the prices on lead acid/AGM batteries going down.

Actually not true. As you said amp hours is amp hours. When you put batteries in series the amp hours remains the same.
2 each 12v 80 amp hour batteries wired in series is still 80 amp hours at 24v.
Parallel wiring is a different story but the batteries must be matched and charge equalized. 2 each 24v 80ah batteries in parallel would be 24v 160ah.

Reviving this thread as pool 2 proved my 8 yr old trolling motor batteries are ready to be replaced. Looking at 2 12v Litime batteries to run in series for a 24v setup. Have of you that switched to 12.8v lithium batteries replaced your on board charger to handle lithium or have you gotten by with your original on board charger?

Your charger needs to handle lithium. Some lithiums can be charged on the AGM setting if you have that. Check with whoever you buy the batteries from. If you are going to lithium and the charger is old I’d suggest upgrading.

I switched to 2 litime 12v 100ah trolling motor series batteries. My old charger wasn’t compatible, so I bought a noco that works great. But right now li time has their chargers on a good sale. My dad and I were just putting his order in a little while ago for a single 12v and charger for his power drive.

Thanks. Looking into it i probably need to upgrade my onboard charger if I go lithium. Litime does have a decent sale going but those NOCOs just look sturdier and have a slightly better waterproof rating. Guess I gotta figure out how much I want to stick into this old boat.

I think i have the noco 10×2 and it’s been great.

I just bought 3 – 12 volt 100 A/hr LiTime batteries with built in heaters.
2 for the trolling motor and one for the electronics.
I was kicking around buying a 24 volt battery. Ultimately decided I didn’t want to buy a 24 volt charger when I have a 3 bank charger now.

You can always take the new charger and batteries with you if you get a new boat. Otherwise I was told by an amped rep that the minnKota precision chargers will charge their batteries on the AGM setting. I went 24v and it came with a charger. No regrets going lithium and you should really like the extended run time and weight savings.

Do you have to take the heated batteries out in the winter if you leave them on the charger all winter ? My batteries stay plugged in 24/7 365 when not in use frozen or unfrozen .

Lithiums shouldn’t be stored 100 percent.
My lithiums stay in my boat out side 365 days a year.

I have been told it’s best to not leave them stored for long periods of time with a 100% charge.
I plan on pulling mine and try and store them with a 60% charge.

Amped, two 24V 50AH batteries in my new boat (2023 1875 Crossover; Minnkota Ulterra 2024 60 inch). Only 3 outings with them so limited experience. Ran the trolling motor spotlocked for 6-8 hours one day, batteries read 93% charged when done. This was the setup Amped suggested for my boat prior to rigging. I pulle3d the batteries and stored them in my garage at around 50 degrees this winter, with about a 85% charge upon storage.

Like others said lithiums should be stored 50-60% charge then every 60-90 days put a charger on them for about 5-10min. We are all used to FLA batteries where charging them after use was needed. Not the case with lithiums and is more beneficial to charge them only when needed. With how I use my trolling motor I use about 1% battery per hour fishing. With my amped app I can see the health of my battery as well as time until discharge. Here’s an example of my 24v 80ah run time last summer.

The built in heaters take a bit of juice. I am surprised that you had a existing 3 bank charger that would handle this. LiTime states 15 amp per bank for the built in heaters. There has been some discussion if 10 amps would actually work but I personally have not heard any one confirm if 10 amps work.

Hey BC I know you have talked about how much you like the LiTime batteries. Wondering what size did you get? They have group 24 and group 31 batteries. They are both 100ah so kind of confused what the group size means. I will be ordering 2 of these very soon. Where did you order them through?

Thank you for the heads up. I just looked again. Didn’t pay attention to that when I looked the first time. It gives approximate heating time with @15A.
I wonder if my 10a will run it and just take longer or do I need the 15a.

I ordered the group 31 trolling motor series batteries. 2 12v 100ah. And I ordered them directly from their web site.

I seen someone previously asked if anyone has tried a 10 amp charger on the heated models and if it worked but I have not ever see a response to this question.

I had watched a independent review video on the heated LiTime battery. I believe that his charger was 20 amp. During the heating process his equipment showed approx. 9.6 amp draw and when the battery got warm enough it changed to the charging cycle and then shown approx. 20 amp draw.

I purchased a LiTime 20a charger. I am just going to buy a couple extra Anderson connectors and charge the 3 batteries one at a time when it’s below freezing.
The only time I would charge below freezing is a Rainy River trip or the first couple of trips to chamberlain in March.

    1 x 24v always.
2 x 12v in series is just bad planning.
That was typical for lead acid batteries. But these are LiFePo4 and have BMS’s. Unless you want to disconnect them for maintenance every few months. (Which defeats the point of buying batteries that are designed for no maintenance)

Not bad planning at all. I bought 2 12s just in case one went to sleep and I could jump it back to life. As well as they were way cheaper then 1 24v. Running 1 jumper wire to make 24v literally take 10 seconds.
