As I sit down to write this report the walleye spawn on Green Bay has come to an end with all of the recent warm weather we have received this past week. It was amazing how fast things went last week as the water temps rose quickly over a four to five day period and the fish went from pre spawn to post spawn very quickly moving into the rivers or to the areas that they are going to spawn completing the spawn very fast then moving back out into the bay and beginning to feed up to regain some much lost strength from the spawn.

We have been casting for the walleyes here on Green Bay targeting shallow water Using Rapala Rippin Raps in sizes #6 and also #7 depending on how much wind we have been having. On days that we do not have much wind the # 6 Rippin Rap has been doing just fine but on days that we have had stronger wind we have been able to have much better control and feel with using the #7 Rippin Rap. We have had some days that the fish have been responding better with a slow approach  allowing for a much longer pause where we find the fish are actually picking the bait up off the bottom and on days with stronger winds we have been having to work the baits a bit quicker to stay in contact with the baits.

Over the past few days I have been trolling for the Walleyes over some slightly deeper water finding some great numbers of Walleyes moving a bit deeper at times of the days. Our trolling approach has been using planer boards and we have been pulling crank baits such as the Rapala Deep Diving Husky Jerks at various depths behind The planer boards. We have been finding some larger size fish out a bit deeper but also catching some nice size fish in the shallow water also. There is still plenty of time to take advantage of some fantastic shallow water walleye fishing here on Green Bay.
