Wow. We used to fish right there growing up when we would visit my cousin. Not like right there, as in the area. But like RIGHT STINKING THERE RIGHT THERE!!! HA Thanks for sharing. State record or not, this thread will make my cousin’s day (now a disabled vet that doesn’t get out fishing much).

I can’t say for sure if it’s PS’d or not, but it looks like he’s got his arms fairly well stretched out. I do question the validity of the weight and just how plowed you really are John.

I hope its real. That spot is a little weird looking though. Wow if its true. Even if he is holding his arms away that thing is still a tank. I went down and watched them pull the nets in one time. It was wild a bunch of large game fish. But nothing of that size.

The spot might be from the gill net, I caught a 30 3/8″ this post spawn that had a bigger abrasion than that and was told it might have been from a gill net.

Hook and line state record out of Leech Lake according to my friend who sent me an E-Mail

I don’t think it’s photoshopped, just held way out. He is wearing waders and you can see the net on the right side of picture.

Hard to tell of course but I’m thinking it could be 12-ish possibly?

Third look shows more. I guess to clarify now, I was talking about that strange bright blue spot, not the abrasion looking spot. I know one thing, that background is far far from Leech Lake. The bright blue spot, I do not know. The brownish ”abrasion” spot, I do not know. I do know this as a graduate student employing fisheries biology in his thesis research, and having retrieved gill nets before, that would be far from your normal gill net to 1) catch this guy, 2) leave such a unique abrasion alone, 3) all of the above from a net looking like the one on the stern… Either way, its held out, and yes questionable on weight. But its a donk and I welcome him/her to the end of my line any day.

I am guessing that it probably went close to 13 lbs. Definately not photoshopped and is clearly at Point Douglas Park off from Point Douglas Drive or as most know it as HWY 10 going from MN to WI. Surely an eye many dream of catching, hope she swam away after all the handling

I have no idea if it’s real or not, but what I do remember from the 3 days they were netting there is that it was very cool and windy, I stopped twice, the people in the background don’t looked chilled to me at all. A very nice fish no matter what

An old timer who used to work at the Pike Bay hatchery on Lake Vermilion told stripping the eggs out of state record fish every other year.

Last night I figured it was me that was blurry but it was actually the picture. Go figure. With a clearer picture, and a clearer mind, the picture looks legit. What a tank.

If you are netting those fish have to be immediatley returned to the water.
    Could be a possible violation.

Nice fish but the real question is how long it took you type that sentence “three sheets to the wind”. I logged on in the tank once upon a time, which was a challenge in itself. Damn screen kept moving and somebody rearranged all the letters on the keyboard

From what I can remember, it took a few attempts on every word.
